Also for the no PS3 games. They said you can play PS3/PS2 and PS1 games with the streaming thing the PS4 has. So there you go.

They said they were "exploring that possibility". They never said it's working. Plus that means two things:

a) you need to buy the games again
b) you're *bleep* out of luck if you don't have decent download speed through your ISP

The whole "Resume your game later! Just hit the power button!" is basically
a revamp of Window's hybernate feature (The information loaded into the
RAM is stored on the hard drive before hybernation, then is loaded back
into RAM upon wake-up).

Downloading in the background - already done by the Xbox 360.

The UI (user interface) looks similar to Windows 8's Start menu. Wut.

By the way, the 6:00 PM area sounded like just a bunch of bluff trying to
get people excited. Didn't excite me, I wanted to see the real deal.

They got to the hardware part. Hmm, "X86 CPU". So it basically has a 64-
bit processor. That's basically in every modern computer. Lets talk about
how many physical cores it has; is it an AMD that puts out a crap load of
heat or is it an Intel that uses hyperthreading and puts out less heat? And
RAM, 8 GB (gigabytes) of RAM, that's pretty much basic for today's prices
for RAM (you can get 12 GB for a good price). Oh, then this "enhanced PC
GPU", they're just trying to sound fancy again. Anything can have
"enhanced" slapped to it, show us the real specs. How much RAM does this
GPU have? What about its GHz? Oh, and this "supercharged PC
architecture" is really just a modern motherboard. Most motherboards are
coming standard with PCI Express, I don't see what's special about it.

"Remote Play" looks like an altered version of Window's "Remote Desktop".

No support for PS3 and earlier games?

Whoever posted those live messages doesn't even look excited himself.

Then they get into Killzone ... just to let you know that Halo 4 practically
stood up to those effects/graphics. And think about how old the Xbox
360's hardware is.

Base line, I wanted to learn some pretty cool stuff about this new PS4, but
I'm not seeing anything that gets close to breathtaking. It just seems like
the system is getting closer to being an ordinary tower PC.

they wont release or even begin to actually build a ps4 until a few more years have passed. there are very few people who can even afford a ps3 right now so there is no reason to release another high-priced item that no one can afford when they have one that is selling somewhat decently considering the financial situations of most people and the game library is not nearly as big as the ps2's was when it got replaced. i think the ps3 is safe for a few more years at the very least.

What? PS3 will still be on sale for a few more years just like PS2 did after PS3 was released. Sony's stock is soaring at the moment (Up from $10b to $16b in just a couple months) and they need to launch PS4 at around the time Microsoft launches the next Xbox (Which will inevitably come within the year).

Also PS3 is very cheap at the moment compared to most other tech, and "most" people, as in Sony's target audience, can afford one. Heck there are iPads that cost twice as much as PS3 and Apple has no issues selling those.

What Sony can't afford to do is allow Microsoft to get an edge like they did in this generation. Not to mention that I believe they stated that they would not be last to the market again. Even if it doesn't launch until 2014, it would be suicide for them to wait "a couple more years."
