How long did it take?

16 months. The four-year NTSB investigation concluded with the approval of the Aircraft Accident Report on August 23, 2000, ending the most extensive, complex, and costly air disaster investigation in United States history. And an update. At 8:31:04PM tonight it will have been officially 16 years since the 747 blew up. At 8:18AM tonight, it will have been officially 16 years since the 747 took off.

That's a horrible tragedy that I'm fairly sure I've never heard of. It's horrible to think of the reactions of the families to this event. All we can really say is 'Thank goodness it wasn't us'...

16 years ago today, a Boeing 747, Trans World Airlines Flight 800, exploded and crashed over the North Atlantic near New York. All 230 passengers were killed.

And latiasfan, before you say anything, this is 230 people. There were children on board, too.
