but what about (i can't believe i'm talking about this on a children's forum) what about when there is a male from whom she doesn't want defense? i think her horns would be better in defense issues. potentially intrusive, but not necessarily.

Maybe it contained more visual apeal... always a chance that that is why. In any event your argument could also support that idea that she should have had them. Females in nature always need defence against possible males, and back spikes would give a female more of that.

also, this is a children's game. O.o guarantee you that's not why they designed her that way.

Eh I don't really like her attitude in DOTD, her design throughout the series is cool but the way she acted when Ignitus died is like "Oh he's dead who gives."

Oh. Well, my terrible reading aside, I think I would have still been confused by back spikes. I forgot that TLoS Spyro has those.

Not BLACK spikes. BACK spikes. Spyro has them down his spine.

No, I got that. What I was asking was, assuming that wasn't an issue, why should Cynder have had black spikes? Where did this idea come from, in other words?

I assume you know how babies are made.
Having spikes down her back would be rather dangerous.
