Ponychan is actually quite awesome. I get the feeling it's kind of impossible to troll ponychan - they'll just "love and tolerate" you too much. Surprisingly I think it'd be much easier to troll people who HATE MLP by posting ponies at them all the time, because they'd actually be bothered.

When you see a title, that's a new thread. The three most recent posts are displayed after the OP as a preview of what the thread is like. If you want to see the whole thread, you have to click Reply.

The site is split into categories like any forum. Those are listed at the top of the page as /something/.

Anyone who goes there, do you use a name/tripcode? I've posted anonymous a few times, but I'm thinking of getting a name.

Ponychan is actually quite awesome. Some people came from 4chan, yeah, but everyone's so... positive there, despite the fact that they have every opportunity to just troll the crap out of the place and be completely anonymous while doing it. Sorry about that... But in all seriousness I think this is stupid to argue about, and the thread is going to get locked if flaming and arguments keep occurring.

I've seen the shows that Riverhippo posted on the youtube thread along with 2-3 others (no actual order), and I can 100% say that, despite the characters being practically all female, there is NOT too much "femininity" in this show. I personally dislike it for other reasons, and while I may not understand why people enjoy this, they obviously do.

Almost everyone I met who likes the show (myself included) started out saying they didn't see why it was so great. Then you watch at least three or four episodes. You instantly experience the feeling of being immersed and enjoying watching it.

No one should ever feel that the show is being crammed down their throat. But if you haven't given it a shot, then you have no business drawing conclusions. I have never met anyone who truly hates the show, after watching a few episodes.

And 4chan actually was so abusive the the pony fandom explosion that it banned any of it's members for just using the word 'pony'.

Since then, the "hate machine" for the internet has been countered by the immense power that the pony fandom brought, the "love machine" of the internet: ponychan.net now exists.

The memes are and added bonus and are best enjoyed by people that actually watch the show, like a big inside joke you were never let in on.

Hm, the fact that it's so widespread right now just serves to show how good it actually is (in my mind anyway). According to knowyourmeme this is why the recent pony-craze started:
"On October 19, 2010, Cartoon Brew wrote an article about the show entitled, The End of the Creator-Driven Era in TV Animation, which had an oddly alarmist tone to it. Threads on 4chan’s comic and cartoon board, /co/, attacked and made fun of the article for this reason. The article and the threads generated /co/’s initial interest in the show, causing several members to go and watch the first episode. After the second episode aired on October 22nd, threads about the Ponies started to boom even more, gaining the show fans outside of its target demographic."
So it isn't popular because it's a meme (which I don't really think it is), but more because people just happen to like it, although I can understand that if you don't like the show all the people posting ponies could get pretty annoying. The best thing you can do is watch the show...And JOIN us. (:
