As for the movie I'm a huge X-Men fan and let me tell you something jack. I am going to go strolling down to the movie theatre camp out and see the movie before everyone when it comes out. Because brother that's what an X-Men nerd like me does.

Not saying it shouldn't, just saying that Hollywood sometimes demands the big names for a movie to be worth selling.  The movie industry sometimes cares more about getting people into the theater, by promoting it with names and sponsers, than actually making something worth watching because it's a good movie.  Just like what Activision has been doing with the Spyro franchise.

Anyone who loves movies knows what I'm talking about.

Well, I do agree that many movies put the focus more on the celebrities than on the plot itself, but I don't feel like the X-Men movies have done this (except Origins: Wolverine. Why they finally put Deadpool into a movie and had Ryan Reynolds play him baffles me). Sure it deviates from the plot of the comics, but honestly the comics have been around for a long time now. The story is way too complicated to cover in a few movies. They have to change it a bit to make it appealing to the common audience as well as the nerdier fans. Also, having big name actors isn't bad in and of itself, without good actors, a good story can be hard to take seriously. This I think we agree on, that it's when the company markets that instead of developing a story when films go wrong.

As for your earlier point about a good movie being one that everyone enjoys for the same reason, I have to disagree with that too. I think it's interesting seeing the movie from another person's perspective, and seeing what about it made them think, as opposed to knowing exactly what they're going to say because it's the same thing that everyone else likes about it.

You want those of us to just *bleep* ourselves because we don't like a movie that you like? How about you just ask us why we don't like it. Here's my reasons:

1. Everything is expected. Right at the beginning, you can tell that Loki is going to be the villain. It's just the way he acts as a child. Not to mention they didn't really make it a surprise that Thor was going to go to go to Earth. They should have put the first clip in AFTER the fact he was sent back. Not to mention you found out Loki was an ice giant pretty early in the movie.

2. They put two action events very close to each other near the end. When Thor fought that metal suit and the fight between Thor and Loki were only a few minutes apart. It made the ending go by a lot quicker than it should have, and a stupid mistake like that could make LoTR feel like a short movie.

3. Hawkeye was really emphasized during the scene where Thor first tries to take the hammer. They showed him in one scene, he made a big impression (when he took the bow instead of the rifle), and then they don't even mention him again later. This also made the movie feel short because it felt like he was going to appear again later. Not to mention it proved it was just a lead-in for The Avengers.

4. The comic relief of the humans on Earth was funny. And I will even say the jokes are pretty original. But it just seemed like it jumped from each side of the seriousness spectrum back and forth. Basically, the jokes came at times where there shouldn't have been any. Despite contrary belief, comic relief is not appropriate at all times.

5. Many of the characters have no personality. Thor himself seemed to me like "That guy with the hammer" and nothing more. Not only was this the impression I got from him, but over and over he kept proving it to me that this was what he was. Just a guy with a hammer. No intelligence, no skills outside of fighting. This could be said with most characters. However, I would say that at least Loki was developed pretty well, unlike the rest of the people. I was able to predict almost everything the characters would do because of that.

6. They certainly turn Thor into a Marry Sue with his power. I would not be surprised if Thor was able to destroy all the ice giants single handedly with his hammer. He was considerably stronger than all of his friends combined, and I don't even know how they will weaken him enough to make him on the same level as the rest of The Avengers.

Overall, I feel the movie was just a special effect house just to make money and lead up into the movie they are actually making an effort in.

Neither is expressing an opinion on a forum, especially since the post was entire appropriate. Targetting people for abuse on the basis of whether they liked a film or not is a lot less appropriate, I believe.
