Great now I'll have to be selling this game in my store. I thought it was only gonna be a Toys R us exclusive. guess not. I still think its a gimmick especially when you have to buy toys to play other characters. Although I feel that they are marketing this differently just because spyros logo has changed big time it aint SPYRO skylanders adventure, and have his trademark logo on it like all the previous games had its different and it names spyro in smaller letters and not in bold like his previous titles did.

Does it feel to anyone else like all the conversations in this forum lately have turned into debates about Skylanders vs Classic and My Little Pony? Does nobody else find this annoying and/or strange? It's like, when this topic started all I did was express interest in buying this game, and then some random internet person went "Why would you buy this crap it's too expensive and different wah wah yadda yadda!" and now we're talking about My Little Pony.

Actually, in retrospect, never mind. I don't think there's really anything else to say about Skylanders at this early point...

There's just no objective way to say what makes Spyro Spyro. Other than just going by what the title of the game says, of course. What people are saying Spyro is is actually what it was. It's not that anymore; it's this now. I don't mean to say "just shut up and like it" or anything like that, but that's just how it is.

That is exactly what I was going to say. I'd be all like, "SO WHAT?! I HAPPEN TO LIKE MONSTERS WITH WEIRD WEAPONS! ALSO WHAT DOES AND DOESN'T COUNT AS 'SPYRO' IS SUBJECTIVE AND WE SHOULD RESPECT EACHOTHER'S OPINIONS!" I was just about to edit that into my post, but you beat me to it. Anyone could have said "it's not a Spyro game" when DotD came out. Or when ANB came out. Or when ETD came out. Or hell, even when Ripto's Rage came out. They're different from the original, so they're not really Spyro games, right? It's like, if it's different and you don't like it, it's not Spyro.

i would imagine some sort of demo will be released, and it wont require any toys to sample it out. The way Activision has released information makes me think they want to promote the hell out of it when the time comes.

we're in a recession; it's not a good idea to go throwing big numbers around like that when so many families are struggling.
and even if we weren't, that's still $60 for cheap entertainment. i would agree completely with parents who didn't buy this for their kids, no video game is worth $60.

It may be not right, but put yourself in the developer's shoes. They have so many costs involved, and that includes hiring Hans Zimmer (a LOT of money) and all the voice actors and actresses. Plus, yearly developer costs on all of those consoles and they only get 70% of their earnings regardless. The other 30% goes to Microsoft/Nintendo/Sony.

$60 for a game is pretty standard in the gaming industry - but around $130 on a game which doesn't even work is still outrageous.

$59.99 is not a lot to pay for a game. I think a new Call of Duty game costs around $60 and if you pre-order, you always get exclusive stuff. MW2 had night-vision goggles.

I hope that the portal thing will be responsive. Let's look at a game where the toy thing did not work out because Activision just had to rush it:
