Not what I mean, I don't mean they are 2 different dragons, I mean, mabey, the new series will catch up to the original series, and Well, Restart, begining with Malefor, and ending with Red.

That dream theory is out there, but certainly interesting.

OHHHHH, BUT! THERE'S ALWAYS A BUT!, SPYRO HADN'T MET HUNTER UNTIL THE BEGINING OF DAWN OF THE DRAGON!!! SO YOUR THEORY IS DIS-PROOVED!!!!

Woah, dude don't be silly over it, and remember Mole-yair told Spyro who Hunter was in the Scavenger Pirate Ship in TEN, maybe Spyro assumed Hunter of Avalar was a cheetah?

It might be a bit of a stretch, but the "Comatose Theory of Pokemon" may apply to Spyro. 
I'm just making this up as my theory:
When they are trapped in the crystal for three years, Spyro was just dreaming of a happier world, and the characters are projections of his personality traits and his friends, and certain events are apparitions of the third chapter of the Legend story.

Spyro is aware that he is very similar to Malefor, but to distance himself from the Dark Master, he transforms him into Gnasty Gnorc.  Spyro's confidence makes this projection into a unintelligent gnorc.  Gnasty returns eventually, as Malefor does in the prophecy.

Ripto represents Gaul, and both hate dragons.  Spyro wanted to turn Gaul into a comical, less menacing shorty.

The Sorceress and Bianca represent Cynder.  The Sorceress is the big, evil version of Cynder, while Bianca represents the smaller, good Cynder.

The portals are rebuilt versions of the one Cynder was trying to open for Malefor, but instead, the portals are gateways to happy villages.  The portals disappear and Hunter starts to resemble his true self more in A Hero's Tail, and Spyro's coma comes to an end after the dream of Shadow Legacy is completed when the grublins smash the crystal.  I don't know what Cynder was dreaming of.  Maybe a darker version with a story of redemption?

Also, Sparx was silent in the first few original games, and as a reflection of our opinions on Sparx's voice in DOTD, his voice gets really annoying in AHT as his dream is ending.
