So....

Then a third party burst out and made a outbreak meanwhile Gnasty is the True villain and is revealed to be none other then Madara...Ripto's two minions were broken out from the matrix and began a quest for world wide destruction

Maybe he is a retarded dragon with a birth defect that couldn't learn any of the elements in special elemental ed.

I actually tend to agree with this.. It's simple but explains it quite easily.. He is Magical. He had a Sceptre with the an extremely large Power Crystal that He stole from the Professor. Maybe he used that to protect him? I can't remember but I think the Power Crystal went down with him.

Another idea would be: When Ripto used a Gold Orb to summon a Bird, and then Spyro using one to fly, There were another 5 or so golden orbs that weren't used. Considering that Spyro can collect 40 orbs and still take them through water and other liquids etc, I'm assuming the Orbs are nearly Indestructible. Ripto could have gotten a hold of one of these and used it to get out before it caused him too much damage.

And finally... the fact the Ripto hates dragons makes me think that Ripto used to live amongst the Dragons and makes me think that Avalar, The Dragon Realms, The Forgotten Worlds and Ripto's World are actually all the same world...

EDIT: I have rewatched a video of him being defeated and the Power Crystal actually came out and got stuck on the front of the Guidebook so that takes the possibly of the first option out.

Because in a game like Spyro, it has to be funny if he gets hurt without dying.  My theory is a lot less stranger than a terminator ripto resurrecting from lava.
