That's what everyone thinks, but I'm not. I'm not. Come on, would you want to be a fat purple mess, even if you can stop time and shoot fire out of your face? No? Never mind.
I honestly can't believe I ever thought of him as a brother. He's about 500 times bigger than me and bright purple. I don't think Mom and Dad expected me to believe it, but I did. I must be stupider than I look. Still, who cares about intelligence when you've got wit?
It's the only way I can get one over on Spyro. Wisecracks. It was fun at first - I loved tormenting him when he couldn't ever come up with anything better than 'shut up'. See what I said about wit? He might be Mr Save-the-World, but when it comes down to it, he's got about as much charisma of my left wing. He's simple. He always was far too modest. Not like me. He used to be fun, even though we were totally different, he was fun to be around.
But now...?
Cynder's rubbed off on him, what can I say?
It's funny that only when you fall out with someone you realise all their bad points. When you're friends with them you don't even notice them. Or maybe you're trying not to notice them. Same thing, really.
It was only a few days after the time he'd saved her. Cynder, that is. It was a mistake, I can tell. Sometimes, when no one else can see, I spot that gleam in her eyes. I recognise it. How can I not? She's still got some evil air about her, and it's not just her looks, or her eyes, but she's always all techy about Malefor. Especially when that mad old hermit started raking up the past like an insensitive shovel. To be honest, I quite enjoyed it. I like the guy.
I mean, I knew she had a thing for Spyro, but I didn't suspect he did for her. It shouldn't be suprising - it's not like he's met any other girls, but I didn't think him the type to go for someone just because they're female. It must be that - it's not like Cynder has anything else going for her. She's not funny, kind, happy, interesting - she's not even good looking anymore. I just - don't - get - it.
I don't deny I called her sexy - once. But that was a joke. Sorta.
I loose all heart to critisize, now. I can't be bothered. She's there, and she takes it all seriously. She's hogging him, and I know why. I don't like it, but what can I do about it? Don't call me jeleous, even though I am. Don't judge me. When your friend as close as a brother is nicked from you by some stupid she-dragon who nearly killed him three years previously, you'll know how I feel - and it's no picnic.
I always used to circle him, and chat, on our journeys when we were younger. They were always the same games, of course, same routines. I'd infuriate him, critisize him (often about his inability to fly), but he'd still know I was joking. That's the difference now, these harsh words that spring to mind every time I see him aren't jokes; they're real.
He left me when he and Drip-Face teamed up to go and kill Malefor. It's not like I wanted to go - I've always made a drama when I have to go on some dangerous quest, but I'd always still go. I was there when Spyo defeated that massive bundle of mess Gaul, and her. Cynder's not been the best in these situations, has she? When we were facing Gaul she'd took one smack and fainted dead away, and she was the one trying to kill us in that earlier battle. Why does Spyro trust her?
Turns out there's nothing sinister about her. They defeated Malefor together, without me. It seemed like a piece of cake to them. Defeating the world's biggest dark dragon; what is that is the grand scheme of things?
And guess who said I love you?
I saw them, flying over the hills of Avalar together. Laughing, joking, all the things he used to do with me until Cynder came along. Watching them, I hate to admit it, I wished Malefor had finished them for a second. Didn't let on of course - wouldn't want to give them the satisfaction. I glared at Cynder in the distance. It's never nice to meet someone better than you, paticularly when your best mate thinks so. Everyone wants to be wanted, but Spyro's got her to laugh and joke with now.
Yeah, I suppose I'm just not needed around here anymore.

Author's Coments - Aww, this turned out a lot sadder than I intended. I sort of started elaborating on Sparx's inner feelings and it was quite hard to stop. We all know he dislikes Cynder - but Sparx always says that's because she tried to kill them. It's probably that partially (we're not all like Spyro, who can forgive everyone in half a second), but I think the main reason is that he's jeleous.
I found the last bit quite sad. Cynder and Spyro are seen flying around the hills without Sparx (I think, I've only seen the ending once) and Sparx's fears are coming true. Spyro preferes Cynder - he doesn't need Sparx.
