What came up in my head was that cloud place in Year of the Dragon.
Where you had to restore the clouds, and turn on the chimney cloud things.

I would have to agree. I love the Spyro music, (I even have the Soundtracks) and it doesn't really sound similar to me either, and I listen to it at least once every day! The only thing I can say is the Spyro soundtrack has low and high guitars, transposed by Stewart Copeland and they are exact copies of each other.
I have personally heard tracks that remind me more of Spyro, with their rumbling drums at beginnings of songs and long sustained distorted Guitar chords.

If it was a song by The Police or The Cars, I'd understand why you'd think it was from Spyro.

sounds exactly like something from Spyro to me.. i'm not sure if it's any particular song though. but it sounds like it could be in a game.

but it sounds more like it'd come from Spyro 1 than YOTD, imo.

A few months ago I heard a song called "Waterfall" by an 80's British Band The Stone Roses. I really, really liked the track and also couldn't help that it sounded very familiar. I was rattling my brain for months trying to figure out where I had heard that outro before. It finally dawned on me that it sounded like something from a Spyro game. i think it was Year of the Dragon, but possibly could be another.

I know I am not mad as I asked a fellow Spyro fanatic (my brother) if the song reminded him of a video game; he immediately said it was right out of Spyro.

If it is from Spyro, which I am convinced by, can you identify where from?

Here of course is a link to the track. Concentrate particularly (only) to the end of the song, where the rolling guitar riff is backed up by higher pitched guitars.
