Magma Cone has an underground cavern in which you have to play 2 minigames with Hunter, collecting crystals. That's probarbly what you mean. Here's how to do it:

In the beginning, at the first Volcano you see (with the river of lava around it), there are stairs, on which you can of course climb. Go to the bridge before the elevator where you paid moneybags a "small fee", and Fly around the Volcano and reach that stairs. Here's where you should land:

Climb the stairs and there should be an opening with a few 5-gems, which explain Sparx pointing at the Volcano. Fall in the hole and you'll meet Hunter and some vases containing gems, explaining Sparx pointing at the ground. Play Hunter's game twice and you've finished the level.

any help on the location of the orbs [I've completed the flying challenge where you shoot rocks at the party hat stealing... demon things] would be appreciated but I'm more concerned with why, when I use the Sparx gem finder, he points either down into the ground when I'm at the foot of the first volcano [not the underground one] and when I'm not at the foot of said volcano, he points TO that volcano...

it's all a bit odd :s if I've done badly explaining, tell me and I'll have another attempt :u
