There will always be a 'Traditional' vs. 'Modern' argument on almost everything.

The problem is, modern always wins... Unless there is a big problem with it, it will always win. Though what happens after it wins? Something even more modern will come out and replace it.

Before, it was hand-drawn 2d animation, then it was 2d computer animation, now it is 3d computer animation.

There are some problems with Traditional vs. Modern, and that is when many people still like traditional. Things like DVD vs. Blu-ray? Everyone likes Blu-ray better (even if they don't have one), because there isn't any negative effects between DVD and Blu-ray. Though things like 3d vs. 2d animations are different, because many people still like them.

Personally, I like 3d better if it is in a movie, but I like 2d better when it is on a TV show.

I just saw the new movie avatar. I gotta say, the CGI is amazing.
I didnt see the movie in 3D but i bet it would have been just as awesome. The movement of the characters is smooth and realistic, and the entire landscape is very detailed. It looked very real, as if filmed on the actual planet. I give the movie an 83%. I highly suggest seeing it.

Pixar pioneered animation; Pixar was just sponsored by Disney because they ran out of money working on Toy Story because they were such a small company and Disney liked the look of what they were doing. If anything it's the kids today that are killing it; to them the traditional animation is falsely considered childish.
Disney Studios is trying to revive 2-D animation though, The Princess and the Frog is an example of that.
