Also, since now there is the Source Filmmaker around, it is possible to create very good trailers/machinima in games...
do you know the "Meet the Team" trailers for TF2? Well, that's Source Filmmaker
And do you imagine Spyro using a crowbar?

(I know it's a bump )

Mmh Source could be a good idea since now it is ported over to Linux and Mac, but is getting old...

I would personally go for Unreal Engine 3, and maybe 4. It has been ported to Linux, and I heard here and there Mac... It is more powerful than Source, more tweakable, codable. See the proportion of new games today running under UE3. A great majority

Meh @ CryEngine Even if a Crash game is developed on it.

I was reading through the various topics in this group and saw a number of game engines being mentioned, but I saw the absence of one: Engine 001.
www.engine001.com
If someone could get or make the sprites for the characters, this engine would be a great choice. It is simple and easy to use and there is no code writing involved, as scripting is done in a point and click fashion.
Anyway, check it out and tell me what you think.
Post information you may have on any other game engines here.
