Too far gone to have resurfaced?

I have a PS2 copy of Spyro a Hero's Tail (which I got with my PS2 back in 2005), however it's so badly scratched that the game doesn't really work anymore. I was able to play it after letting it sit there and freeze and stutter through the startup, but after it got to the menu it was fine. But I noticed during game play character voices were messed up and entering new levels would lead to walking into a black screen, which would resolve itself (when returning from the sunken ruins the level would not load and would remain black. Jumping out of the room would result in spyro endlessly falling.) I don't have a picture of the CD, but can the game be saved? Or will I have to buy a new copy?

Re: Too far gone to have resurfaced?

Would it be called illegal if you owned the disc, the disc stopped working so you downloaded and burned another copy off the internet onto a disc?

I'm sure it probably is. But I would rather have it repaired or buy a new copy if I can.

Re: Too far gone to have resurfaced?

i'd just get a new copy, it looks like it's going for pretty cheap on ebay.

on the other hand, those glitches on your current copy could be pretty fun. and apparently there are a lot of unused areas on the AHT disc, maybe it could make one of those appear.

Re: Too far gone to have resurfaced?

My advice is to do that NeoReapoer said. If you are making a new disk because your old one was damaged beyond the point of working correctly, consider the new disk a repair. Just as long as it is for you and no one else.

Re: Too far gone to have resurfaced?

The moment I try to record the glitch is the moment the game decides to work... If I can get the glitch to happen again I'll post a video of it.
