Re: Spyro the Dragon Wiki

In a strange twist of events, our 'enemy number one' per se, Raidon Makoto of that 'other Spyro wiki' is now a system operator of our wiki and from my understanding will slowly phase out the wiki that he had. This merger is great for all of you, and all Spyro fans, because we now have a wiki literate person in charge. Neither Spyrorocks nor I were well versed in anything wiki-related. Raidon is. Our two wikis presented a true catch-22. His wiki had many quality articles, images and proper coding (e.g. infoboxes) but had less than ten members. We here at SpyroWorld have nearly 1,000 members (just 16 to go as of right now) but our wiki lacked proper coding, and although it has over 100 articles...they lacked imagery, and the majority were under 50 bytes. Combining the expertise of Raidon, and his lengthy articles (not to mention images) with our large userbase we will create the ultimate Spyro wiki - a truly unique, comprehensive compendium for all things Spyro. This is reason to celebrate!

What? We're merging? When did you decide this... what does this mean?

Re: Spyro the Dragon Wiki

I think it means...
the old wiki will be phased out (Raidon's wiki) and his articles will be transferred onto our wiki over time. We will also have access to his Spyro images. Infoboxes will be completed now. Raidon knows how to code so with him as a system operator more things will get done. It is all for the better. All you've done will remain. The URL will stay the same. It will look the same. Only now, there will be more articles, images, and better coding.

Re: Spyro the Dragon Wiki

@Ratchet: I need to set an infobox size, as some of these Infoboxes are getting XBOX HUGE.

@Dark52: Aww, but your content is so... nickable tongue

EDIT: Ratchet, look at the infobox for Gunnar. I changed the width from 300em to 300px in order to keep the infoboxes much more orderly. Please use this new change when copy/pasting infoboxes.

Re: Spyro the Dragon Wiki

You can give credit to dark52 then. Otherwise, it's akin to plagiarism.

Re: Spyro the Dragon Wiki

Technically is it his dragon image either? Those characters, images, IPs, names, etc. are all copyright of (and trademarked to) either Sierra, Universal or Insomniac. While we use the images for our sites, they are never truly ours. It is more of a borrowing process. So it may be on dark's site but I don't see it as his because he doesn't hold the trademarks, or copyrights to it. On a respect level, as supposed to a technical one, what's his is his what's ours is ours. Any images I have here I would hope dark would leave alone and not use out of ethics. The same for his site. He specifically asked me not to use his images and I haven't. I've found the exact same images on other sites or I've used an emulator to get them, but I don't take them from him because he asked us not to.

If you want images, ratchet, use Spyro Universe. Mozepy happily gave express permission to use any of his images from his site on ours. Since he doesn't have a problem with us borrowing his borrowed images, use those instead of dark's. Do this out of respect for dark's wishes. Likewise, though, I would hope to find no content from here on dark's site. I notice that as soon as I post links to previously undiscovered Spyro images (like the TEN/ANB storyboards or SL character art) dark immediately begins to use them, but I don't mention it because like I said, we're all just borrowing anyways. I guess he just doesn't want his borrowed stuff re-borrowed.

Re: Spyro the Dragon Wiki

I'm just concerned about the images that I took myself; I took those pictures specifically for my own guidebook and would appreciate it if they weren't used for a similar purpose elsewhere, that's all. Any others (ie pictures in my game galleries) you are perfectly free to use as those are (mostly) just things I found.

Re: Spyro the Dragon Wiki

We will not use any images you have ripped yourself, because I understand the time it takes to rip images out of a emulator and such and I would not like my ripped images copied.

Re: Spyro the Dragon Wiki

In addition, I have an emulator installed on my computer and have begun to rip images of all the dragons as well. In the future, ratchet, you can use those images. I need to upload them first.

Re: Spyro the Dragon Wiki

Has anyone heard of the site Spyro The Dragon Island? Someone posted a vid on YouTube from it. Spyro Island have made some walkthrough vids of their own. Shame the site is too confusing to navigate! :S

Re: Spyro the Dragon Wiki

I really need to install some sort of spam protection... I think I could whip up a super simple question system like "whats 3 + 5?" for every edit, because the spambots are automated and they wouldn't change their bot just to work with 1 wiki.
