"No, I didn't even know that it was here. Though I did hear rumours in the last village I was at that there was a castle that was brutally attacked, many innocents were slaughtered apparently."

Busa shivered, although it was not cold. "I thought I heard screams in the night. I wasn't dreaming." He growled quietly, then quickened his pace slightly. "I'm Busa by the way."

Nithran, being tired of all the crying, decided it was time to leave. Some begged them to help them, so he killed them while stating 'There is your help'. Others dared not approach, lest they be incinerated. No one stopped him from leaving, so he wandered the outside woods, looking for another place to go. He occasinally shot at animals for his sadistic pleasure and to practice his fire spells. For some reason, he noticed the coin that flew around him to be glowing slightly when he shot fire at things. He wondered what it was doing, but didn't think for it for too long.

Lumistar glanced sideways as she heard a sound which sounded like flames being shot in the area. She glanced at Busa.

"Can you hear that? It sounds like fire..." Being a fire dragoness she knew fire all too well. "Shall we check it out?"

Dayn heard a great deal of "news" from some of his new subjects. Lady Rumour was indeed mysterious. There couldn't be much to do around here, so people probably worked up strange stories in their minds as they toiled at whatever it was they did. Some minor baron a dozen or so miles away had blown up, from what you might hear. People slaughtered, seemingly for no good reason, and rat demons had descended from the sky and were coming from the rather drunk man who had prophesised their return. As dangerous as it was, Dayn would have to start dealing in, education. He gave a shiver. These things were necessary. Nevertheless, Dayn resolved to take a few of the new recruits out to scout out the land. Rumours tended to grow best on a patch of truth, as he said himself.

Busa stopped dead and listened. "I do hear it." He looked all around him cautiously. "Best to stay away. Come on, lets be quick. I'll check it out later." He said, walking quicker still.

Lumistar looked apalled that Busa would run away rather than go investigate, after all if it was whatever attacked the castle then maybe they could have a crack at it or persuade it to leave. However, one thing that having older parents had taught her was to respect your elders, so she swallowed her opinions and followed, albeit grudgingly.

Busa sensed that Lumistar was troubled, so he said, "I am not one to be cautious. I just fear that whoever it is will harm you." He had a soft spot for young females, not for the reasons you might imagine. "I will escort you to the cave and then go and investigate it myself. OK? Oh, in fact we are here now." He said as they reached a large rock formation near the mountains, in which a cave had been conveniently placed.

Nithran, however, being nearby, heard movement and shot at it with no other reason than to make it explode. He was so angry now, and couldn't control it. He felt some sort of urge to make everyone else suffer as well, and he went along with it. It wasn't new, so he didn't think twice about it.

Busa felt a surge of hot air nearby and saw a flash of light. "We're under attack!" He bellowed, pushing Lumistar towards the cave. "Go and shelter, I'll deal with this cretin." He growled, drawing his blade and facing the undergrowth. "Come on then. Show yourself. Don't be a coward."

"Ah, it is not a creature, but a dragon." Nithran said as he stumbled out of the woods in front of Busa. He didn't calm down, but didn't fire at him. One sudden move, though...

"Dragons are creatures my friend." Busa lowered his blade and faced the newcomer. He was wary. "Who are you? Why were you pursuing us?" He beckoned at Lumistar that it was (fairly) safe to come out.

Dayn had found his scouting party. Five young new recruits, eager to join up and prove their worth. Dayn made sure that his officers displayed an enjoyable life, so people vied for a chance to be one. Basic recruitment. He also selected one of his lower officers, one Lionel, who should be able to serve as a link between recruits and general.

Equipped and eager, he waited on the roof for Lionel to brief the recruits. Dayn wondered if it was safe to put his life in the hands of such inexperienced warriors, perhaps even agents from other kingdoms. He scoulded himself for such paranoia. It was merely an investigation, no known risk involved. 'That's the problem,' he thought, 'known risks I can deal with. It's the unknown ones I struggle with.'

"Are they? They are inferior to me, either way." He said as he laughed, "I wasn't following you, anyway. I came from the castle that blew up! The cries are unbareable; they need to shut up and move along!" He growled, "I killed a few that bothered me. Must I wear something that says 'don't pester me'? Oh, and you are tresspassing for me. I lived here until a few years ago."

"HOW DARE YOU!" Busa bellowed, pointing his staff in the dragon's face. "They have lost people whom they love! You clearly don't know how it feels to lose a loved one." He growled and lowered his staff. "A murderer too? You make me sick." He spat. "I'll go where I d@mn well want to go! I'll be leaving shortly I only stayed for the night. Now, I don't get on well with heartless killers, so get lost." He gave the dragon a short glare, then turned to walk inside the cave. He was shaking with rage.

"Your kind make me want to vomit." He repeated, trying to resist the urge to turn and attack.
