How I create Spyro Music Videos

Heh... I decided to show how I get my Spyro Music on my account. I also describe here how I copy off the game music to MP3's and it's legal!

(Sorry admins if I can't do this...)

The Setup. It is my PS2, a small TV, my own laptop and TLoS:ANB.

A white patch cable connects to the tv and leads to...

...the input port on my laptop.

I then hit 'Record' on my laptop's recording program.

Then I play the music via the options menu.

The laptop records the music and I let it run for fifteen times to get at least a single good copy.

Let's play RPGs while I wait!

Once I was done, I reviewed the music and used hiss removal and amplified the music to make it crystal clear! The sound quality is flawless!

Then I export the nice music to MP3 format.

I then use BeatHarness to create the visuals, and two secret programs to record and mix the music.

After recording, I repack and sync the music with the visuals, which is the hardest part.

Once I get past that stage, I encode the video and send it to Youtube.

Okay... So it has pixelations and low video quality, but it's Youtube that's giving me headaches. Believe me, the video quality goes out of my system flawless and ends up crappy. What gives, Youtube? Thank goodness, but the music seems to be un-crappetized by YT's compression scams.

Note: I'm uploading a 17-second sampler of high quality so you have an idea on how better can it be. It's 27 Megabytes big. Very big for 17 seconds...

Recording all the music will mean playing through the whole game! I will revisit the game a few weeks from now so I'll record the music as I go.

Don't expect it to come out fast though, the visuals take longer to direct.

Note that I have to play through the game to sap all the trax, so this may take some time.

Before I forget, I tried extracting music from the disc, but I can't crack the files. sad

Yeah...
don't know how possible that really is...
I've been trying for about 2 weeks now and I ALMOST got some tracks, but they were choppy and not good at all...

It is probably possible, but I have neither the time nor intention span (well, maybe that...) to try for another year or so...
I'll just record them from Rhapsody for now...that's free and reliable, but you can't get all of the songs there...

+ yeah, take as long as you need...I just wanted a few that'll last me a few weeks worth...the rest can take a while...

i use audacity for all kinds of things as well...very good music editing software...and it's FREE too! yay freeware!

Å½ Â· Mine is a bit less time consuming lol, even if I have a sucky computer.

I just use a DVD Recorder for this kind of job. I rarely use it now since I can't find any motivation to actually get anything from any game as of late.

Probably the main difference from this method and of Doppelgangergang's would be that I rely on the DVD's memory instead of the comp's memory.

But even if I DO use the comp's memory for this, my comp is too cramped up to even fit 1GB anymore.

I thought all you would need to do to make one of these was search for the song and movie clips on the internet and stick them in windows movie maker or would that not work?

It specifically states how he rips the music off of the game himself.

The title is actually better off being "How I get the Spyro Music".

well, at any rate, i've searched everywhere online and have not found how to either download the same songs as on itunes, nor have i found a direct rip from the PS2 game that works with spyro games...
i'd be happy to simply rip the sound from his youtube videos if necessary...
or maybe i'll just try this myself...

do you need any special cables to go from the audio left/right to the computer? or prob. a sound card...

Yes, that would work. However, song downloads are in the seedy region of legality. Windows Movie Maker will not create the reactive visuals that I get.

I use BeatHarness for the visuals, and three secret programs to make the video. I can churn out one in thirty minutes minimum (two hours max.), minus the time to play the game to the point where the music starts.

And I am creating one right now.

EDIT: The encoding part is hardest. I have to screw around with codecs.

All PCs have sound cards, and you need to have a Line In input. Do not use the microphone slot to record music as you may fry your computer. It also gives off crappy quality.

yeah...just tried a recording through the microphone...rly BAD!!!
it was almost do-able, but it was just too loud and uncontrollable...
i'll look into those cables...

Here's my favorite music!
It's from ANB, where the Guardians teach Spyro some tricks.

The reason I picked Green Lighning for this one is because those are the powerful weapons in TLoS: ANB. And My favorite too. The visuals react to the music. Heh, nice.

this is one of my favorites as well!
My others are Gondola and Escape from Forge (with Choir)
those were my first 2 ripped from Rhapsody...I love 'em!

ps...anyone good at music, is this song written in 7/8 time signature?
it sounds like it if you count it out...
