^---Uh, you're kinda missing the whole problem with the new Spyro. If it really were intended to introduce new people to the Spyro games, it would've been better to make it closer to the original, not introducing a gimmick that was never really all that great. Anyway, they could've done this and named it something completely different, changed the main char's appearance, and avoided all the fan-rage from the older players. Naming it Spyro and using the grotesque purple hellspawn was to get a look from people who actually did know Spyro from before Activision bought his soul, or at least people who played the LoS trilogy.

And yes, I realise this is in responce to a post 6 pages back. I've been busy. >.<

So yesterday, I was in Game Stop, searching for a new game. I couldn´t find anything so I thought about trying out Skylanders as many people on the net seem to like it. But then I saw the price: 70€ (92$)
I just thought WTF! The game is about 30% more expensive than usual games and that's still not the whole price since there are many toys that you need to buy... Angry
So to all people that say you shoudn't judge the game before you tried it...
I'm sure that even if the gameplay is nice, it's not worth that much money...

Its basicly a scam just to see how gullable the spyro fan base is.

Unfortunetly the spyro fan base is as clever as spoons.

Wow, $92?? That's pretty ridiculous.

It's not as expensive here ($70 instead of $92), and it does come with three figures, but I never even pay the usual $60 for new games. I wait until I can get them used for cheaper. So even though I do want to try it, I'm going to at least wait until the new one comes out because hopefully there'll be a price drop by then.

I've seen it for $50 or $60 here.

it costs extra because it comes with the toys AND the portal, and in order to generate income after using money to create the toys they need to charge a little extra, along with the fact that the portal is pretty heavy-duty. I think this game is really fun and honestly the prices are pretty decent that I've seen in stores.

also, gamestop always tends to overprice their games. I'd suggest trying somewhere else.

Gamestops around here had a sale (but only some versions =/) for $59.99 for a while, but now it's back up again. Everywhere else I've seen it it's around $70.

I guess everyone likes it so much they don't have any used copies, otherwise I'd just get one of those. Or maybe they can't sell that game used in case someone buys it without a figure and gets mad at Gamestop that they can't play it? I dunno.

because it comes with the videogame.

no, you can put the portal right next to where you're sitting, as long as you aren't super duper far away all the way across the room when you play videogames.

Clock-la wrote:

I was skeptical of this at first, but now I think it's really creative and that the technology to do that is amazing, and I think it's fun to have the toys and see them appear on the screen.

another thing that maybe not everybody knows, your skylander character's stats, levels, treasure, etc, is in fact NOT stored on the memory card or the game itself, the data is stored INSIDE the figure. that's why you can see trades/sales of skylanders on ebay with the levels and treasures listed if they're used. you could have 5 different spyros of the same variant, but all the data for every single one is different.

^ its still pointless. there is NO exuse for thhe toy system.

Non.

there are MANY games out there with a HUGE range of charictors. look at tekken for example. how woiuld you feel paying to get a toy to play as somone as tekken.

Heck how about skyrim pay to create you're charictor.
