when i first beat DOTD i texted all of my friends that spyro and cynder died. THEN i saw the end of the cutscene and flipped out cuz i had to tell everyone that "NO THEY DID NOT DIE".

They used a glitch exploit to avoid dying, while normally, they would have been crushed.

I think they survived, and it is a cliff hanger building up to a later game. The sequel must explain how they survived, or I'm not satisfied.

Even if they did die, they did not truly leave the world. Their memories remain to bring hope. I don't see why Spyro can't return physically as long as there is an explanation.
